What a pleasant surprise! I was expecting the price to be much higher. Downloading as we speak.

Talking about tree sizes, I have just looked out the window and the trees near my house are two or three times the height of a normal 2-storey house.
Here are a few shots with Gen-X, Treescapes and some custom autogen houses.

Nice 'brick' coloured houses there too George
Yes.. they're a bit 'wild' aren't they. Good for flying over where the size isn't so noticeable but way too big to be realistic.
I've just popped back to Bowerman as my ORBX demo is still out of the loop at the moment and you can definitely see the difference
The main landmarks are there though including the power plant. The major difference is in the repainted ground tiles. The default ones look crap there as they do here. The coastline is markedly different too but no less out of kilter than here. I noted along the way that every house is white. You only get brick coloured for out-houses/garages/lockups/commercial buildings. All the houses are white or a variation of it. We're way too far behind here in the Black Country
Nice building site you have there too George

Re: ORBX FTX England
Can anyone let me know if its possible to download the scenery on one PC and then memory stick to another to install? Or is there some kind of wrapper etc?
Only reason I ask is that at the moment I'm looking after my poorly Dad (no internet) and wont be able to go home for a few months at least. If not possible, will wait and order the DVD.
Thanks,
Martin

Re: ORBX FTX England
there was an online and offline activation on the installer so i should guess so. BTW i have purchased with the DVD supliment as when i purchase from the flightsim store i always do this as it gives me the backup in disk form, they post to the UK too!
First impressions is, neither overly impressed nor under impressed. So so as you would say. I flew around conigsby to skegness where i live and there a few things missing, such as the river Steeping from around wainfleet. Deffinatly looks better than the UTX install over lincolnshire, Did pop up to Spadeadam and it seems to be covered in trees(wrong type possibly?) and small areas of scrubland, where they have been felling trees for quite a while now. Coast lines look better and as Dave said, FSX looks better than the default repitive tiles...

Re: ORBX FTX England
I shouldn't laugh I know but I did find that funny
How are the houses Chris.. all white (no Michael Barrimore impressions either please)? House placement itself isn't drastically important.. just having some where they should be would do the trick. Surprising that I've always found the default autogen naff but have spent so long flying in the UK without any, I didn't realise quite how good it can look if done right. This is why Alderney, the Scillies and Guernsey look so good I think. Only problem there is the frame hit I see.. particularly on the last two

Re: ORBX FTX England
I've just been reading the ORBX support forum and as you would expect there are several people who are disappointed that their own favourite areas aren't portrayed quite to their satisfaction. The CEO of ORBX, John Venema has posted this comment in one of the threads.
Ian
So you guys who have spotted something wrong, register on the ORBX forum, post some screenshots of the problem and perhaps you'll have it corrected in a patch.John Venema, ORBX CEO wrote:We always welcome critique from customers especially if they take the trouble to show us screenshots of things that are missing. Since we founded the company we have always quickly released many patches and service packs for our regions and a good many improvements to them have come from customers posting inconsistencies like these on our forums.
So I guess I am saying keep posting these reports and we'll do our best to make ENG a lot better with each patch.
In terms of a post-release patch we are already planning to release one within the next two weeks to fix missing roads traffic and some last minute bugs we found.

Well I've just spent the scenery money I don't have on Malta and Gib. I was sure I'd bought the FSX version of Gib before but can't find it or any record of the purchase, so I must have dreamt it

Malta and Gib
That's an odd choice Ben
I don't have either for FSX.. both for FS9 but I don't feel disposed to move them up just yet. Already got stung with the Wellington I wanted until I'd bought it and flown then wished I'd bought the Harrier instead
I'm tempted by the FTX scenery but for a 3 gig download, I'd have to sit up all night (bandwidth is free from 0000-0800) or risk going over my limit and it costing me another fiver. Can't justify the spend anyway
