Spotted this on the REX forum, posted by Ramrod ( cough), but known to his mum as Mike.
When you start up FSX , start the task manager and right click on the fsx.exe and select " Set Priority " to either High or Real time.
It allocates a little more grunt to your CPU, and you will notice better loading times for textures and various other things.
Give it a shot next time you run FSX, it has worked well for me.
Cheers.
Mike.

I'd be interested to hear of any experiences trying this out.
A little FSX / P3D task manager tweak to try

Re: A little FSX / P3D task manager tweak to try
My experience is that it makes things a little unstable which for me and FSX is not worth it, I always feel with FSX even on a good day it is on the cusp of giving up the ghost.

Playing with these will cause any program to become a little less stable, especially one that's resource hungry as it is affected more by other processes running on the system. Normal priority is almost always best
