Monitors

Post by TSR2 »

Hi Chaps,

Just thought I'd share some info on my new monitors. I had a 24" Samsung Monitor / TV and while the picture was great, I hate that widescreen these days seems to be geared for watching films and not for connecting to a PC. The 24" screen was 16:9 format and I used this along side my trusty old HP 4:3 format 19 inch. The HP has been getting duller over the recent months (to be fair its over 6 years old) so my plan was to give the Samsung TV / Monitor to the missus so she can watch tele while cooking my dinner

Anyway, new 4:3 format monitors can be found, but they are silly money, so the best I could do was go for a 16:10 which is a bit "squarer" than the 16:9 that everything seems to come in these days. I opted for 2 x Samsung SyncMaster SA450. The Native res is 1680 x 1050 which is more than adequate for my needs and gives a "Squarer" feel than the 1920 x 1080 which seems to be standard on other monitors. The picture is bright and sharp. I picked up the 22" model on Amazon for £138 each. they also do a 24" version with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 for those with a bit more cash to spend (£189 each) The stand is solid and has full tilt / swivel and height adjustment.

A great monitor for a reasonable price

Thanks for that Ben  4:3 monitors are becoming scarcer than rocking horse droppings so anything NOT widescreen gets a tick in my book ;)
