Re: Poll
FS9 v FSX is a PC / Historic thing.
If your rig could run FS9 okay when it came out you went with that, if not like me you waited
and went with FSX.
I stayed with the version before FS9 (whatever that was, can't remember) and as I didn't have FS9 didn't have to worry about loosing any add-ons.
Went straight to FSX once I got my QUAD core and Finally my i7 (six years later).
P3D for me is not quite ready, not sexy enougth. I don't want same, I want more!

Re: Poll
Newer doesn't mean better
Truth to tell.. I suppose I could have ticked on FS9/FSX had there been that option as I do dabble in the dark side every now and again though to be honest.. it's mostly when I want to play with the carriers

Re: Poll
If I may, for a minute be a miserable of git
The only really successful poll is one where a number of people using identical..or the same set up try all three in their basic 'out of the box' form.
All you then will have is their opinion and not necessarily which is better, but valuable points will be made and perhaps taken note of
As it stands there is so many variables that it is not possible.
Again, as with the countless, flawed FS.9/FS.X comparisons, some will be comparing fully developed FS9 against FS.X basic or perhaps FS.X developed without the amount of FS9 add ons available, to raw P3D and that just should never be done.
No poll should ever be undertaken without strict specified criteria, otherwise what are you comparing?

Since you can't compare them, how will you know which one you'll want to stay with?
Probably, the one you have now is the one that suits your current system more than anything else and the fact it is the one you have now means it's the one you prefer and as it stands the one you are going to stay with.

Re: Poll
Only reason I sometimes think of switching to FSX is payware aircraft not available for FS9. PMDG's Jetstream or CSims 737-200 for instance. Couldn't decide to make it happen though - so far whenever I had bought a new plane, I have always moved back to the fabulous cbfsim freeware after a few flights...
Most of my other models are rotting away in the hangar.
And apart from payware there's no obvious reason for me to change sides...
Best,
Nick

Re: Poll
Of course a big thing for me is single seat warbirds and VC cockpits. A2A rules in that respect.
For those who have not experienced the A2A P47 with Accusim all I can say is, just try once, just try. Life will find a way.....

Re: Poll
I really don't see P3D as a Flight Sim enthusiasts product yet (if ever), but it does open doors to lots of development opportunities using the enhanced simconnect etc. It is smoother, of that there is little doubt, but even a modest 2012 spec PC should nail FSX.
FS9 is eleven years old soon and its completely unrealistic to expect FS9 add-ons to work in anything new (even though most of them do)
We've done this ever year at some point, but the big issue IMHO with FSX / P3D is that for the freeware developers to develop aircraft etc for it, its become very very expensive. GMAX just about hangs in there, but SDS MAX is thousands of pounds for a single license and when the FSX versions of FSDS took so long to stabilize (largely due to the fact that it took 2 service packs for the sim to stabilize) many of the old guard freeware modellers gave up as it was prohibitively expensive to change and then have to start learning a new development tool from scratch is enough to put most off. As a result, there is an estimate that as many as 40% of the freeware developers just phased out.
However, I have seen privately, what can be done with the current version of FSDS (albeit not in Flight Sim) and it seems that the current version is a very very capable tool.

Re: Poll
Couldn't vote really as there were not enough boxes for my state:-
Have and use FS9
Have and don't use FSX
Have and use P3D
Have and use FLIGHT
I'll give you one guess as to which I like flying in most
BTW I think that would Poll me as a minority of one!
