This is no different to posting a series of shots showing an expensive add on FS9 Boeing 737 against the default FS.X 737 to 'prove' FS.X is inferior.

Hi Ian...Yes you have the same control over time and season as you have in FS9 with an additional button for Real Time Now. The weather is limited to a number of scenarios, perhaps more scenarios than FS9...about 7 or 8, I think...For this tour I have been sticking to Now for the time and season and Clear for the weather. Yes, I think Juneau could be snow covered and snowing but not perhaps NOW in June...I will have to do a few things with seasons and weather before I can properly answer that. Aircraft with instruments...Maule and RV4 and Stearman Biplane Trainer(Deluxe Aircraft they call those). There are also some aircraft without cockpits (Basic Aircraft they call those) Various single piston engined WW2 fighters and a Cub...I must confess that I don't bother with the basic aircraft

An edit to the above text...I listed the Carbon Cub that comes with Alaska as "Basic"...I have just seen this from someone who knows:-

"Keep up with the times; the VC for the Carbon Cub is next up on the DLC Buffet!"

DLC means downloadable content and they come in when you start FLIGHT...Free ones automatically or payware ones after you have indicated that you wish to pay for it...I look forward to the "Deluxe" version of the Carbon Cub.

Today, I moved from Taku Lodge to Taku Harbour...About a half hour flight. I beached the Icon there and took a few photos of it:-


Beached at Taku Harbour which in a well protected inlet.


The exit from the harbour is to the left of this picture.


The rest of these shots are devoted to my favourite Icon.


Note the "Sawtooth" leading edge...Exactly like the later marks of Hunter. Note also the many differing shapes of the pine trees.

The propeller follows the modern fashion of having the most curved edge as the leading edge rather than the older trailing edge.


The cockpit with instrumentation that is designed for VFR flight.


The very large opening canopy makes it easier to get in and out.

Hi Peter,

That Carbon Cub looks the business. i had a look over their website earlier and it looks like a smashing GA airplane, I'd love a real one. Much as I can see the attraction in the little A5, it just doesn't do it for me at all, it reminds me of one of these horible little electric cars that have no interaction at all. The videos of that Cub taking off though are incredible... I wonder how much they are

Alright I suppose it is a bit unfair to compare Flight's Alaska scenery with a payware add-on like Tongas Fjords. Erm...except that Flight's Alaska scenery is also a payware add-on, albeit larger in scope and cheaper at about $15. So forget about expensive FSX scenery enhancements ; take something like Scenery Tech's replacement landclass which covers all of North America for less than $19. I have their Indo-Pacific edition, priced the same, and as extensive as its name implies. Its a vast improvement and cheap as chips. For the UK, you can have Adam Mills' replacement textures for free.

If I put FSX default scenery at the low end of a 1 to 10 slider and Tongas Fjords at the upper end, from what I've seen here and elsewhere, I honestly couldn't place Flight's offering any higher than 3 or 4.

Yes, Flight is in its infancy, and maybe when third-party developers come on board with Microsoft ( if ever ) it will look better. But FSX has already arrived at that point. Flight's scenery and water effects should at least be comparable to the better enhancements of its 6 year old predecessor, but they just aren't.

All my own misguided opinion, you understand. No offence intended to anyone here.

I moved to Entrance Island SPB yesterday and discovered an error in its location:-


Here I am beached at Entrance Island SPB according to the FLIGHT map...with the map fully zoomed in the aircraft is in the Anchor Pink Spot.


Here is the Overhead View from that same screenshot image...The white cross is the aircraft and as you can see it is not at the island but on a peninsula.

And here I have repositioned the aircraft to the correct location.
