Do I get a prize for this? *-) EricT[/quote]

Yes - I reckon you get the booby prize. :)

But just one. You have to work for a pair just like in real life.
Or settle for what else you can get your other hand on. :wasntme:

The thing is, right, everybody (well, women :-# ) knows an age gap of 20 years can never work. But me? I did it twice  The second Mrs. Speedbird was also 20 years younger and ran off with her fitness instructor (I didn't blame her, actually, as he was quite a hunk 8) ) yet I still did it again. So many women and so little time

Anyway, sorry to drag this back to the original subject, but

I've just read a laptop test in PC Advisor that says the performance benefits of an Ivy Bridge processor are worth waiting for  So I'll hang back a bit and see if any early Ivy Bridge machines with W7 are discounted. PC World already have a couple which seem very well specced.

Ian :)

PS just picked the memsahib up at BRS on her return from Turkey and bless her, she brought me a bottle of Bombay Sapphire and has gone to bed for the day. The perfect wife, eh?

Forget the original subject Ian, your 'women' topic is much more interesting! :agree:  EricT

Not to me! Dave's photos of long-disappeared Victorian ironworks are more interesting to me than my women

On the other hand I could tell you some interesting stories ...

Women have their moments but a bloke needs a little 'fun' time doesn't he

Can't offer any advice on laptops or chipsets I'm afraid. My daughter has an HP Note Book (DV6) which wasn't cheap and goes like a good'un (intel i5 2nd gen) but that's probably similar to what you're used to. Odd but a PC I put together from bits using an old Asrock board, Ben's old quad intel cpu and an equally old ATi card run Win7 as well as the i5 DV6. That said, her DV6 is a lot more portable  I'm starting to warm to laptops but I don't think anything beats a desktop for ultimate speed and versatility. They do take up a hell of a lot of space though and the wiring mess remains unattractive 8)

Good luck with the hunt ;)
