bmi Vanishing Act

Post by Garry Russell »

The bmi aircraft are going through the paint shop progressively

Here is G-DBCB

http://www.planespotters.net/Aviation_P ... ?id=280699

At least they could argue it need painting anyway..I would argue that any paint is bound to be better than bmi...but there again :$

I saw A.330 G-WWBD overfly the other day.

Still has red winglets, red tailplanes too but it looked other than that to be all white *-)

I used to have a 1:600 DC-9 model in this livery - was one of my favourites...

Ah yes...but that was BMA before the relaunch as bmi

That 'Diamond' livery was at the time in my opinion the worst livery ever applied to a British airliner although it was neck and neck with Air UK Blue 'Plane.

Later, they made it darker which stole the winning prize :$

I used to like the earlier BMA liver as first applied to the DC 9 B-)

When Air UK brought out the Blue 'Plane livery it included the tail and engines. The CAA cited a visibility problem and asked for more white white was applied to the tail and the blue went from the engines.

Quite why they let BMA trough then is a mystery. I once watched a Fokker 100 taxi past an RAF camo Herk into the light at Jersey. The Fokker had the darker version and the Herk camo could be made out whilst the Fokker was completely black. *-)

Terrible time for liveries..Air UK, BM, BA Landor, United grey etc :(
