Bigger Boeing Action

Post by speedbird591 »

Soooo.... I'm starting to get the hang of some custom camera views in FS Recorder but it's a tedious process because I'm also experimenting with Fraps and refreshing my technique at Kai Tak. So as you can imagine, the cutting room floor is waist deep at the moment

Anyway, I salvaged a few scraps that might be of interest. As Peter always says: Select HD and full screen (but easy on the volume!) for the best experience.

Yep, selected full screen HD and very impressive it was. I liked your previous HK approach video too. I must say you are a braver man than I - I've owned Fly Tampa's HK & Kai Tak for ages and haven't yet attempted that landing, even in a default Cessna. 8)

Oh yes, I remember you liked that one, Paul. The long term plan is to build on that early one and create a masterpiece  Problem is that the original was on FS9 and now I've gone over to FSX without upgrading my laptop. So with the FSX 707 and scenery if I try for a close up fraps slows it to a slide show. The cockpit view close to the airport is impossible  Although it's fine in-game.

So what I'm doing now is familiarising myself with the techniques ready for when I upgrade. Just waiting for Windows 8 - meanwhile I'll keep practising that Checkerboard approach. I generally get the approach right but when I straighten up somebody moves the runway 20 feet to one side

Apropos of nothing, I have actually experienced that landing from the jump seat of a BOAC Freighter, although I haven't got a record of whether it was VPB. It's a one in three chance!

Ian :)

EDIT: I've just played it back by streaming it from my iPad over wifi to the telly and the quality is terrific. I love technology!

Ian, not sure if this means anything, but I read somewhere that if you record at half speed (or maybe it was that you ran FSX at half speed ) and then speed everything up to normal, you can get rid of a lot of stutter. Something like that... *-)

Thanks, Paul, I remember messing about with that a while back but didn't have the patience. If I remember correctly it involves another piece of software and doesn't record the sound properly either. There's no point in spending time chasing it just now - especially as the sun's finally come out. It'll have to wait until the winter, by which time I'll have forgotten all this and have to start again
