Cycling: That time of year again

Thanks for the comments, guys! I don't often take the camera out nowadays because I've already taken photos on most of my favourite rides and I don't want to be too repetitive. I really like Eric's pics and I like the look of the hills in the background. I hope you've got a decent trail bike that will get you to the top, Eric. I'll bet you'd get some stunning shots from up there And I'm still waiting for Dave to get out in all that open countryside that surrounds him. No excuses, Dave.

Sorry You didn't make it to the pizza party, Joe. I got some squeaky mouse topping for the cats and they were excited about meeting yours. Don't worry, though, I can get more. And more beer! I could do with a bottle now because it's been a crap day on the trains. Well, just my trains probably

Hi Ian.If a Churchill tank and my bike collided I'm not sure which one would come off worse!The photos were taken along side the Harlaw and Threipmuir reservoirs not too far from here and are still within the city boundaries of Edinburgh.I have walked up the Pentlands but biking to the top would be a bit too much I think.I actually look out onto the hills from home and sometimes at night you can see the nightlights of the keen bikers coming down the trails.The view on a clear night from up there looking over the city and a large part of central Scotland will be brilliant. Those guys that ride downhill at night are incredibly brave! Even at the gentle speed I ride at in broad daylight I lose concentration and a rut, rock or tree root kicks the front wheel sideways. I don't think they can be locals as some of those lights cost over £500. I imagine a Scotsman would rather wait for sunrise

Ian they could try using a hurricane lamp! my bike is an old Raleigh Pioneer Trail which is really a city bike/hybrid type rather than a trail or mountain bike.Anyway I am a fine whether rider which does at least that I get plenty of rest up here!

Ok here goes.Some photos of the rather robust,overweight and slightly uncomfortable old girl.They also show my bike. These were taken last year at North Berwick on the first of three rides I did from home to there(about 28miles).SWMBO brought the car over and we went home by car.I could have caught the train back to Edinburgh Waverley but that would still mean having to pedal about 5 miles back home much of which is uphill! and after all I am no spring chicken.
I would say that if anyone happens to be in East Lothian at anytime,North Berwick is well worth a visit.It is a lovely seaside town especially on a nice day.
Now you've got to admit,I do look a cool dude don't I? Answers on a postcard. EricT

I took these during a short ride this morning.The first two are alongside the Union canal and the third is the Water of Leith in Colinton Dell,all in Edinburgh. EricT

You were very unfair to your bike, too. It looks pretty good to me. Or at least, it would with a bit of mud on it

Thanks for posting them, I think quite a few of us like to see scenery from where the others live.
