Cutty Sark re-opens !

Post by Paul K »

Doesn't she look good !

I love the way they have roofed in the drydock at waterline level, so you can see her as she looked afloat. And you can now wander round underneath her to see how she looked from fish-eye level too - a stroke of genius ! Worth every single one of those fifty million pounds, I reckon. Its like the Vulcan and the Midland Hotel / St Pancras restorations - a reminder of what we once were as a nation, and I for one welcome that.

A day in Greenwich is in order, I think. I wonder if they've done anything about the truly dire Maritime Museum since my last visit 8 years ago. 8)

A grand job indeed and as Paul says a stroke of genius with the waterline effect.

Unlike the Vulcan (Which is begging again atm), they've done it without using threatening comments to gain funds.

Looks very nice, similar way to how they now display the SS Great Western in Bristol.
