Today's the day everything was to be finalised in the take over by IAG of bmi British Midland
No chance of anything remaining within IAG ownership, full integration with BA
The two A.330 are to go at the end of the season and by this winter the bmi brand will have gone, the AOC is to be withdrawn and all the remaining aircraft painted into full BA livery.
As of yesterday (19th) Baby and Regional were still unsold and there was claims that that would mean a £80M discount for IAG. Lufthansa/bmi were still claiming that negotiations for those divisions were still underway, but analyst within the industry can't imagine anyone taking them on the the current climate.
A few weeks ago Lufthansa transferred outstanding orders for Airbus aircraft to themselves.
Sad to see them go

A sad day.I feel sorry for all those who wil probably lose their jobs. When I was working.I had a long association with Midland through installing and maintaining much of their telecomms network at Donington Hall and EGNX etc.EricT

Indeed.. another one bites the dust never to return
As I undertood it, Baby and Regional weren't part of the IAG deal. I was hoping they'd continue rather than them go under. Who'll sponser our tv weather with Baby gone

Baby and Regional were not wanted by IAG which is why if they were unsold and therefore included, a substantial discount would be forthcoming.
This is said to be possibly £80M which with some figure given makes that almost 50%.
One of the old Rapide/Dakota type start ups built from hard work, not like nowadays where you start with half a dozen leased 737's and future contracts in place

Sad indeed. I'll always associate BMA (as is was) with the Viscount, as I vaguely remember standing on the spectators balcony at EMA in the late ' 70s when it seemed every other type was a Viscount in the classic blue-stripe livery!
Chris558 I also spent much time at EMA watching BMA Viscounts,Heralds,1-11s etc.I think I'll have a ferret through my old piccies and post some here if there is anything of interest. EricT

TNT hasn't been bought by anyone yet. UPS has made an offer for the shares of TNT Express, but it's subject to regulatory approval still. The wording I see seems to indicate that only TNT Express is part of this offer and that the other parts of TNT Global will still be operating independently.
