I always use epoxy to attach the horizontal and vertical stabilizers as the can take a lot of stress, same reason it's used for joining wing halves. Keep the foam safe CA (longer bonding time) and kicker with you when you fly in case you need to make field repairs. Some foamies use a type of foam that standard CA will work on but I can't say if Parkzone does or not. Better safe than sorry so stick with the foam safe.
If I took a photo of my workbench (NOT going to happen - way too messy and my wife would kill me) you'd see a collection of different adhesives on hand. I generally keep 15- and 30-minute epoxies, thick, medium and thin CA, Pacer Z560 canopy glue as well as different types of aliphatic resin (wood glue) on hand. I don't have any Gorilla Glue as I just haven't felt the need for it yet
Having a good, basic selection of repair materials and tools on hand is good practice. In RC it isn't a matter of if you'll crash, it's a matter of when.
I'll drag the Champ out of the box again and re-check the current damage. I guess it would be advantageous to get as much mileage as possible out of the current fin/rudder.. I'm just wondering if it's not already past the point of no return!
It's currently broken/let go right where the leading point of the fin attaches to the fuse (this in essence could be glued again) but there's an anchor point on the lower edge which seems to push through the tailplane into the fuse which holds the fin upright. The fin has fractured at this point (around the anchor) making the fin unstable. I'm thinking of a 'dirty' repair with tape placed on either side but using glue may also work.. glue and tape in fact. The rudder itself is a bit battered but I think it'll be ok as long as the fin is secure.
Much depends on how the glues work and this I'll have to learn with experience. I'd like the repair to look pretty but I've edged toward functional instead

when I restarted the hobby a few years ago I kept the postman busy bringing spares for the cub I eventually had enough parts to build another airframe which I fitted ailerons ( Parkzone cub flys with rudder and elevator) This made flying the thing much more predictable ( maybe i was getting a better pilot by then ) She still hangs in the garage awaiting converting to a float plane

Will it make a good float plane Dale? If it's anything like the Champ, it's so light.. I get the feeling it would 'dig in' on all but the calmest water
Well.. I effected a repair as postie still hasn't delivered the bits. I could have walked from the shop with them by now.. nay.. hopped even! I used the Epoxy's but I'm not sure how strong the repair will be. It certainly didn't go 'hard' in 4 mins.. it's not rock hard now and this is some 7hrs after the event! This is something I've always disliked about glues you have to mix. The quantities have to be right and I'm too impatient Still.. it holds enough to fly. I've just taken it out for a final fling before the next weeks rain hits but it was gusting too strong so I only managed a few mins. Also.. a crowd of boys appeared from nowhere wanting to know the in's and out's of everything.. enough for me to pack up shop I'll leave the repaired fin on until I destroy it

My parts still haven't arrived. Thank goodness I bought the glue kit though to be honest, since that trial flight, the weather has been crap. There's a VM van across the road and I can see the rain bouncing off it's roof! Damn this weather!
That's true mate.. also, my repair may have hardened by now too
I was just about to sneak out.. the clouds are high, the wind has dropped so I popped outside to get a feel for what's happening and it's bloody raining.. very fine, like a mist Dear me.. I'll have to start painting if I'm not careful
Well.. having emailed the company concerned in the wee hours this morning, said tail/elevator parts arrived in the post this afternoon (yes, I DID say afternoon.. we're a bit slow here!) Glad to find all the anchor points and attachments come with it (they weren't advertised as being there). Still.. I'm battling on with the newly glued originals and after a short flight this lunchtime in between showers, I managed to get out this evening as a hole in the weather appeared. Stayed out as long as I could feel my fingers
The common now has some ponds that were not there a couple of days ago and I managed to find one. I was coming in to land and hadn't noticed until it was too late. I wished then that I'd got the Icon A5 instead The Champs wheels don't skate over water like those loonies flying the Texans.
