On the plus side, a post on pprune suggest the Release to Service has been authorised from 4th April in the transport, Aeromed and training roles.

That is good news, and much needed.

Even if it is a bit more to it than it appears the people involved will sort it just as long as the politicians let the engineers sort it and give them the resources to do so
I thought the point of the PFI contract was you give them £X Billion over 25 years and they provide you with the contracted tanking capability. If they can't do that the only action the MoD should be doing is enacting the penalties due for breach of contract, they shouldn't be getting involved in fixing the problem or paying more money.
What I meant was...let the military do their own thing with what they need

Not try and save money by contracting it out to people trying to make a profit on what is possibly an unrealistic price for the job.

Polititicians should create a military capable of standing on their own and give them the reesource to do it without interferance.

The thing is it's a bit late for that, Air Tanker have been paid a lot of money to provide the capability, unless the MoD got some trained monkeys to write the contract (not out of the question to be honest) they shouldn't have to get involved in fixing the problem.
If this wasn't a PFI contract but a conventional buy it'd still wouldn't be working it's just the more of the risk (i.e. cost) would lie with MoD.

It's the way things are done nowadays and been so for some time

I don't thinks it's a good way of doing things, but of course even if it were changed it would take years for evolved back.

Lets just hope it gets back on schedule...perhaps it's not too serious

Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.
