Live Radar...

Post by petermcleland »

A friend just sent me this very nice version:-

http://www.flightradar24.com/

Just click on an aircraft and a panel will open on the left side with full details. I'm using it on my iPad and it is just excellent :fly:

I find Planefinder flickers alot *-)

Does it with you Ben...the aircraft icons going on and off constantly?

But it has a lot longer replay period so I use both now

I gave up on Radar Virtuel as it was always going wrong and these now cover my area which Radar 24 didn't at first.

I've been using this for a while now Peter. You probably already know that it works better in Mozilla Firefox than IE8.By listening to the airband radio while watching aircraft in/out of EGPH on this website,it can be seen that the delay is only about 30 secs usually(probably less allowing for the few seconds between given a heading change and executing it. :) EricT

Thanks Eric,

I've been watching it on my iPad so that uses Safari as a browser...It seems to work very smoothly. I've now got the app for it but I'm not sure which I like best :)

Someone here posted about Radar Virtuel just over 2 years ago. That led me to FlightRadar24 (the topic of Peter's post) and now I have some of the hardware that generates the data for FlightRadar24. Hopefully will add my data to Flight radar24 soon.

Well done Ian,

I expect setting up that receiver was an interesting process...I look forward to seeing your data on the screen...Do you know yet what will be the code name of your site?

Thanks for the link to this. I see planes above heading out over the North Sea, and its cool to see what and where they're coming from and going to.

Cheers
S.

This has kept me busy this morning.. much to the amusement of my wife and daughter

I don't see it flicker as such Garry but the page loads with errors sometimes.. this in IE8. Since I've had to go wireless, my reception isn't great and BB was almost non-existant yesterday. I waited on the phone to Plusnet for as long as my telephone battery lasted without actually speaking to anyone.

Anyway.. I've heard a number of Jersey airlines flights without actually seeing them (note my scanner is currently tuned to the Birmingham International frequencies). Are they stealth capable?? *-)
