I knew it had to be Africa. Looked up CAA Cargo and they operate in the Congo, pilot must have been drinking too much Um Bongo I think.

Yep. Crew tried to claim faulty airspeed indicators, but there were other problems (like failure to extend the flaps) and thrust setting (found to have used reduced thrust takeoff) that were wrong in the first place that even had the airspeed indicators not been working right were problems enough that should have forced a rejected takeoff long before that anyway.

Even from a distance it showed an apparent visible lack of acceleration :worried:

Sorry, edited my response because I looked up the full "reporting" on the incident. Reduced takeoff was part of the problem, but not the only one. :)

This is precisely what happened to EAS Flight 4226 on 4 May 2002, aka the "Kano Air disaster" - the highest death toll of any accident involving a 1-11.
As a result of overshooting the runway the engines took in a large amount of dust - resulting in a double engine failure shortly after take-off.

Among other incidents this contributed to the grounding of all the Nigerian 1-11s.
I just had to think about that when watching this video.
