I want to know what these 'Baby Onboard' stickers you see in the back windows of cars are for. Is there anything other drivers are supposed to do when they see one? You rarely come up to a car with one.. they're usually speeding past in the outside lane!

Dave, those "Baby Onboard" stickers are so you pull closer to the car to read the sticker, then the driver in front slams on the brakes and you hit him and he then hires a team of lawyers to sue you. The "Baby Onboard" sticker is very persuasive to the jury in awarding damadges. At least that is how it works in the U.S.

Hi mate,

Someone once told me that emergency services found them beneficial in the event of a multiple accident whereby they could give priority to vehicles displaying such a sticker. Going back to the golden rule of women and children saved first.

Not sure if thats the real reason to be honest.

I bought one when Phoebe was born but never displayed it. Especially as most people have a 'so what?' sort of attitude these days.

I like the emergency services 'official' take on the use of such things but from day to day experience.. it tends to warn other drivers that the driver of the car carrying the sticker/badge has no regard for other road users, the Highway Code or the law in general I'm glad you chose not to display yours
