Yes.. I like those. I get dire warnings of how slow they are compared to paying the premium and thing is, even the slowest (free) link is faster than my BB in Berkshire can stand!

But you always manage to get the half a dozen new toolbars/PC checkers thinking you've clicked the link

Well I'm rather enjoying it and have just completed mission 2 (wedding yacht)...the 1490MBs download was a bit of a shock but I like the game and will carry on with it...I was pleasantly surprised by the feel of the controls and the fact that I didn't have to set anything up! :)

Nice to hear a positive use.

Of course loading this does not change anything about FS.9 or FS.X

There is almost a feeling as with FS.X coming out that it means all previous versions have to be abandoned. :dunno:

If nothing else, this gives a little more choice :)

Like you say Peter...you might as well carry on with it an perhaps the more downloads the more MS might be encourage to further develop the Art.

Garry,

I just accept it for what it is...NOT a Flight Simulator but a Flight Game...no open architecture and therefore not much chance of all the companies that have profited in the past from FS, making any money out of it. However, it is pretty to look at and easy to learn...I particularly like the Icon amphibian and have not really done anything before in Hawaii. It does not get in the way of my FS9, so I'm just going to use it as a fun game...I'm doing Freeflight at the moment to look at the islands and get used to the controls...I like it! :)

I have to admit that I downloaded it as soon as I saw Garry's HU. It's quite a nice game but my laptop was struggling to run it with any decent level of graphics. It seems to require more power than FSX for a similar display. It looked good with the graphics on high but the cooling fan was drowning out the sound, the heat was blistering my wooden desk and eventually, mercifully, it ground to a halt!

I don't know who it's pitched at, really. Apart from Peter, I wonder how many other casual gamers would have the skill and patience to persevere with it. I would have thought that your average gamer would be a teenager with a short attention span who would download the game in the hope that he could crash a 747 into a high rise building. So they won't stick with this. Flight simmers, such as ourselves, might also be wishing for a 747 that we can crash into Microsoft HQ before uninstalling it

Oh BTW. Best use Revo Uninstaller as it's own uninstaller doesn't take everything off.

Ian :)

That reminds me of the old chestnut about the lost helo pilot -

"A helicopter was flying around above Seattle when an electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft's electronic navigation and communications equipment. Due to the clouds and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter's position and course to steer to the airport.

The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, drew a handwritten sign, and held it in the helicopter's window. The pilot's sign said "WHERE, AM I?" in large letters.

People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a large sign, and held it in a building window. Their sign said "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER."

The pilot smiled, waved, looked at his map, determined the course to steer to SEATAC airport, and landed safely.

After they were on the ground, the copilot asked the pilot how the "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER" sign helped determine their position. The pilot responded "I knew that had to be the MICROSOFT building because they gave me a technically correct, but completely useless answer."

Obviously you couldn't do this in Flight because there are no helos and it only covers Hawaii :)

I like that  It reminds me of those BSOD's that occur every now and again (not on this pc thank goodness). It goes online and throws a whole pile of stuff at you.. have you installed new software?? uninstall it (no, I hadn't).. have you installed new hardware? check for the latest drivers (no, I hadn't). All of the things offered were irrelevant and at the bottom.. did you find this useful? As soon as the online help came up, I did the most useful thing and cleared it
