Copies vs clones.

Post by Airspeed »

Hi FS9 Modellers,
:help:
I'm attempting Ben's wish of a Galloway Princess, and have questions:
Do 20 copies take up the same space as 20 clones of a part?
Do the clones take on any repaint or other changes applied to the original part automatically?
Is there a "draw a line" function in FSDS? I thought there was in earlier versions, but now I seem to have to make a thin tube.
Any constructive pointers appreciated, thanks.

It's FSDS Ben :)

I was told in earlier versions a single poly could be stretched but wires etc are made from thin tubes now

I don't know about cloning as I've only ever copied parts. *-)

Thank you Gents,
I've discovered that clones don't update when the original part is altered, so it looks like their only advantage is where you need 15 copies, and they can all be made in one hit, instead of repeat copying. I've used thin tubes for wires, but am getting the horrors as to their potential effect on the overall file size.

Hi Mike

You might get away with three sided tubes which would be a 25 percent saving on the 4 sided, but depending on how many wires you have it shouldn't be much of an impact being 8 points and four poly's each *-)

If I copy a part and update the original the copy doesn't change..........maybe the clones do and you have that the other way around?? *-)
