Ben..

I found a Java 2 Plug in (SSV helper or something like that) and disabled it. Still FSA kills the desktop 8) The only other things attached to IE8 are Google taskbar and Kaspersky.. Windows live sign in helper (now disabled) and Messenger (also disabled).

Is it Kapersy Dave?

I tried that once and it kept saying my modelling programmes etc were viruses.

I had loads of grief until I uninstalled it

Hello Mate :hello:

I know Kaspersky can be a pain in the butt but.. not this time. Whenever KAV see's something it doesn't like or is unsure of, it warns you. I'm getting nothing like that and it's only at FSA. Suppose I'll have to try IE9 and see if that sorts it out 8)

EDIT:.. Good job something nagged at the back of my addled brain and I checked beforehand. IE9 isn't compatible with WinXP.. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/inte ... quirements

Kaspersky!!! That was it! Dave, you can re enable the windows live ones, they're fine. It was Kaspersky. I bought it ages ago and ended up ripping it out after a few months. I think I sent the code to Garry at one point to use what was left on the years license, but pointed out that it was rubbish. It basicly hangs on to temp files that IE was using. IE is trying to empty them on close, but Kaspersky has them locked and the whole lot just freeze.

Well spotted Garry!

Yes Ben :agree:

I was investigating AV and you sent me the remainder to try but it interferred with the programmes I use.

The AV was more of a problem than any viruses

Dave...can you not just disable for the duration?? *-)
