Mug, Cup, or Beaker?

The other day I went to the store to purchase a small cup. I'm a bit under the weather now and needed something from which to drink my nightly cold/flu medicine. Any way, this little number caught my eye. Perfect I thought. Upon arriving at home I pulled off the price tag and was stunned to see 'Made in England' on the bottom of her. It seems like everything nowadays comes from China. Even my 'Remember the Alamo' coffee mug was made in China. I've heard the term 'beaker' used on British comedy shows seen here in the US, so my question is...is this a beaker? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like a mug to me. All the beakers in our house are made of glass. No handles.

If that mug had been made in China, it would have had "Made in Engrand" stamped on it.

That beaker could have a handle on the blind side. A cup with the handle broken off, is still a cup.

Glasses .. Beakers .. Tumblers. I guess it's a regional thing.

In our pub, sleevers were the prefered receptacle.

Speaking as someone who has been selling China and glass for too long, a beaker is generally what most would term a mug, usually narrower but not necessarily straight sided, and can be with or without a handle. If you're bored enough have a look at see Denbys website, you'll see Imperial Blue beakers and curvier craftsmans mugs.
