Yeah, sadly the A318 suffers from lack of market. At least the -600 has a little market being a bit larger and using the same engines as the other 737NG's. That was the biggest problem with the A318 - it used different engines from the rest of the A32X fleet. Because of it, none of the software is compatible, you have to have different supply chain for the engines, even the landing gear was modified as part of Airbus's "Weight Control" to ensure the A318 met the performance goals despite being a bloated design for the passenger load (i.e. a much overbuilt structure and thus weighing down what it could haul). This is why the CRJ900's, C-Series, and Embraer 170/190 ended up beating it out.
