Thomas Cook in trouble

Post by VEGAS »

Another casualty of the current climate. Thomas Cook is one of the biggest 'bucket n spade' holiday carriers here in the UK.

They owe some serious money.. *-)

Yep

That was one of the carriers I mentioned on Th Astraeus thread

Air Southwest and Scot Airways have been swallowed up this year, although Air Southwest was sold to Eastern last year it disappeared this Oct

Plymouth Airport is about to close and Ryanair's latest 737's have been sold on the line to a leasing company and leased back with the last few fully painted then sent to the desert for storage.

Air Berlin are selling new aircraft off the line or taking them and selling them without going into service and announced recently they had to cut back their fleet a fair bit this winter. Meanwhile in Holland, Amsterdam Airlines went bust this month and Martinair ceased all passenger operations and the 767's have already been sold. The freight operations carry on but how long before that just becomes KLM Cargo?????

BA retired the last 757's this year as we know and sold them onto FedEx but they were due to go to Open Skies their wholly owned French subsidiary. The planned expansion there was put on hold and BOS are left still operating one Route from Paris Orly to Liberty NY with four aircraft in the fleet.
