Fs2004 Menu bar

Post by austerdriver »

Is there a way to have the menu bar showing all the time in FS2004 when in full screen mode?

Hi Jim

Go to the menu bar then the view tab and then click on the 'tick' full windows, that should do it!!

Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

I tried that and it didn't work.

Just looking to have the menu bar available when in full screen mode.

Hi Jimm,
No, I do not seem to be able to get rid of the Microsoft background border & only show the FS9 menu bar, its either / or I'm afraid!
You'll just have to have it without & toggle ALT+ENTER to get it back!

Forgive me asking but why would you want the menu bar visible all the time in fullscreen?? Doesn't that kinda defeat the object *-)

Hi Jimm -
When in full-screen mode I just hit 'alt' to bring up the menu bar. However ... if I hit' alt-enter' the reduced screen is then all mixed up with an unresolved image making it unusable - this happened this week and I swear it wasn't me what done it gov. :worried:
Cheers

Jimm & Dave Moly:
Yes, I find that one can just use ALT to hide/display the menu bar in full screen mode, but I still need to use ALT+ENTER to get the exit X & the screen switches badly when I do!!!!
Thanks for the tip Dave.

Sri.. I presumed Jimm would have been aware of the Alt key as he's been around FS9 (and X) long enough. My apologies if you didn't know that Jimm ;)

Keith.. yes, I've heard some folk change from full to window mode to select/see an aircraft in the select aircraft window.. primarily (perhaps exclusively) on nvidia cards which lost the plot at certain resolutions from the 6000srs onwards. A pain in the bum but if you want to run at a particular res/AA setting.. there's no way around it. I never find the chop from windowed to fullscreen works as smoothly as it should. It always seems 'painful' to watch.

I have known about the alt+enter key for years. Just when ever I go alt in full screen mode the display shows up some weird thing then brings up the menu bar. If I use FS2004 in window mode I don't have a problem. Just that the picture isn't as smooth as it is in full screen mode. Probably something to do with the graphics card. It's only a ATI 3450 PCIE card I had laying around.

Ahh.. that may well be a driver issue Jimm. I've not seen it happen in FS9 but I sure have in FSX.
