She was originally built SS Graf von Götzen.. not quite as told in the BBC story (but it's not like the BBC to be accurate anyway)
The Germans scuttled it in 1916 to stop it falling into Belgian hands and Winston gave the RN the job of refloating it in 1924.. a job successfully completed in 1927. I guess the Brits re-engined it hence it's change from SS to MV
