ORBX Natureflow

Post by DarrenL »

Ok it's not an additional add-on as it will be part of upcoming airports and updates to current ORBX airports but as lovely as it looks I'm not quite sure how much would be noticeable when flying, as it's only at the immediate airport and scenery. Glider flying or low level paramotor style maybe.

But it does look nice, :)

It'll probably be one of those things that you would miss if you didn't have it. Maybe someone is working on FPS (other than BoB) add-on to go with it, running about through the grass at the airport like Die Hard II

I wonder if the grass moves with prop wash?
Other than that I'm not sure you would actually notice the scenery. You would probably notice the lower FPS!

From the "horses mouth" -
There is no affect on the animations by wind conditions at all. There is a limit to what we can do (or want to do) in FSX, and dynamic response of animated vegetation based on wind conditions is still very much a pipe dream (in fact you'd be lucky to get features that in COD, Crysis2 or Skyrim). Maybe one day with MS Flight we may be able to do that, but not right now ;)
Looks like its yet another thing that eats GPU/CPU cycles for no real enhancement except being able to say you can do it.

It certainly looks impressive, and when wandering round an airfield using Orbx's first-person viewer 'Bob', it'll be fun to watch. In a cockpit taxying ? You probably won't notice it.

I wonder who chose the music for that video. A bit over the top for gently swaying trees and grasses, isn't it ? 8)
