1. Take bmp files b1,b2,b5,b6 from any Legendary 707 free livery zip.

2. Create new texture.yournewliveryname subfolder in ...\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B707-300 and copy the b1,b2,b5,b6 files there.

3. Create and copy 256x126 thumbnail.jpg into the same subfolder.

4. Convert the b1,b2,b5,b6 bmps into DDS as follows:
b707_b1_t.dds - DXT3 WITH ALPHA
b707_b2_t.dds - DXT3 WITH ALPHA
b707_b5_t.dds - DXT1 NO ALPHA
b707_b6_t.dds - DXT1 NO ALPHA

5. Add new [fltsim.XX] section to aircraft.cfg

Yes the FSX ones are better though as they are more detailed and a higher resolution.

Cheers Darren. Good to know for the essential liveries that haven't been done for FSX.

I really should have known better......but at those prices it's worth the risk. I bought 757 Captain for FS9, installed it, took one look at the panel and deleted it within 10 minutes

Back to my antique PSS 757.

I plunged and bought the B52 - pretty decent thing all in all and not too much of a frame rate hit which is nice.

I was rather disappointed though that the pack only came with 1x texture. You've gotta download the rest from the usual suspect sites.

Thing is though you don't really need many.

One grey - check
One camouflage - check
One NASA - check
X-15 launch plane - optional

Don't forget that Capt Sim host repaints, too - mostly ones by McPhat - so pretty decent. I got 3 decent ones (to make 4 in total).

Also, what not many people seem to know is that Capt Sim released the model before the VC because they were testing the perception of their new painting textures, which supposedly make the surface appear detailed, regardless from which range it is viewed. I forgot what they call the technique - I'm sure there was an article in PC Pilot mag at the time of release.
