Today after finally getting my PC running with a reloaded XP Pro and FS9 plus my other progs and spending hours getting Saitek yoke/quadrant/pedals set up (that alone tries the patience of a saint!) I have it almost ok just a few tweaks to do to fs... then the bloooody new hard drive, well a few months old 1tb Samsung jobby starts making clicking and wont boot into windows first time but does 2nd time.... Acronis true image I thought make a clone and start again with a new disc.... sadly it falls over when it hits an error on the indexing... So it looks like a rebuild of XP and everything else all over again on another hard drive....I am wondering if its worth the bother and just stick to my iPhone

That's bad swag mate
I feel your frustration
TBH.. I'd leave the darned thing alone for a while and plod on with the iphone. The Samsung jobby should be well inside it's warranty so get the bloody thing sent back and forget it. When a replacement comes back.. think about another install

Re: F**$@#g Computers!!!! Part Two
Well CCL have confirmed my PSU sent back to them is faulty now I wait to hear from OCZ as to when it is replaced, mental note...buy different next time....
Today I got FS running pretty well great I have new Nvidia drivers hence Nhancer no longer will work but Nvidia released a tool nvidia driver inspector. It works a treat with some nice tweaks, certainly smoothed it all out.
Now the dying hard drive.... I am fed up with RMA stuff so this will be a storage drive etc cant be ars3d in sending it back and all the hassle. So its True Image from Acronis working on it at this moment, I hope to get it imaged then restored onto another hard drive as it wont clone due to an indexing error! Knowing my luck it wont work

There is a saying that you make your own luck but I'm not so sure
From experience, I tend to fall into the category of 'everything in my favour is against me'!
One day.. I'll do the decent thing and make an image of my drive but when that will be I've no idea
I looked at various progs and couldn't decide which one to go for and that was enough to see my getting none of em
I take it True Image is payware mate. Does it work on multiple pc's or does the license work for one only?

Ah.. rgr that
I always feel that I should have an up to date image of our office drive as the last time it failed.. it left us in very deep brown stuff
I started using an automatic backup which comes with Nero and this has run weekly for a couple of years now. Unfortunately, I'm not 100% sure it would ever let me restore like a Drive Image prog would.
I'll take a look at Acronis some time

Tony...glad they found that PCU was faulty...at least you know it was that causing the mess which no doubt they're not helping to clear up.
Lets just hope you get get stable and move on
Do you think the PCU fault corrupted the disc?...that what seems to have happen here last year. After firring the new one the two hard drives set up as a stripe, could not be read due to the index being corrupted. Sadly because they were striped I could not read them back as I would have been able to had they not been set up like that, via a lead or icy box.

Dave
Had a quick Google and found this http://lifehacker.com/5303067/five-best ... tore-tools
Although the info is two years old, when it mattered I used an earlier version of this:
http://www.paragon-software.com/home/br-free/
The earlier version was based on Linux (and this probably is too) but the wizard hid all that. Create a CD to boot from and image files can be restored to the original drive.
When it mattered was when building a new Win7 PC for SWMBO. Having problems with some of the older software (Adobe CS3 = two versions ago
) so to avoid repetitive re-installs, just (
) rewound to the previous install. Still got the successful later images in case it all goes wrong sometime. Yes big files even after compression but disk space is cheap these days.
Now I must go and do all this myself
