Hi Chaps
I need to know what vesion you guys are using to fly our models ?.
Regards
Rick
I basically want to know who has still not got FS2004
As the Flight dynaics are getting harder and harder to get working acrodd both sims & FSDS2 has a new update in progress that will mean FS2004 only models. (allegedly) :?

Im back using Fs2002, if you have scenery addons and get a terrain mesh enhancer its much better than 2004, its alot more PC friendly than 2004. the only thing 2004 has going for it, is the ATC and the weather.
The MSdefault terrain mesh is worse than that in 2002, and as i have said before in the forum its like flying around in a bowl in 2004.
Stick with FS2002. If it works it will do just fine.
FS2004 will disappoint after the novelty factor of the new bits wear off.

I personally think MS sould stop producing full flight sim programmes, and concentrate on Add-ons, updates for 2002/2004.
FS2002 is a good base programme and already has a well established base of designers/developers, and add-ons in place.
It is seamingly difficult and a hassle for designers etc to convert their stuff to work with 2004.
I think in flight sim circles FS2002 is still popular with most simmers.

Hi Tyne79
The poll on flightsim.com put FS2004 at 81%
FS2002 at 8%
MS other 11%
The only people I can find that prefer FS2002 are the ones that have problems with old hardware and drivers.
I agree with some of your FS2002 views but its not better than FS2004 now that I have got used to the changes.
I had a period of about 2 months where I wanted 2002 back but rode out my problems and would never go back.

Actually, Rick, that should read ....when there is only 1 choice.... If there were two choices there would be three buttons to click.Rick Piper wrote:is it really hard to click a button when there is only 2 choices ?
I only mention it because Tonks may be along soon and pick up on it
And that's why I've been hesitating - I got confused
Now, what was the question? Oh yes, FS2004. Where's the bloody button?

The following is taken from Anders S. Svensson's High Flying Virtual Aviation Group website.... http://w1.901.telia.com/~u90113820/fs2004_comp.htm
"How to make your FS2002 look like FS2004
I read in a FS2004 forum about someone copying scenery files from FS2004 to his old FS2002 and, stunningly, getting a FS2004 look!
So I tried this. And now I got a FS2004 in the old well equipped and well functioning FS2002.
Here is how you do it:
This is entirely on your own risk, but I don't see how you can mess things up
1. Make back-up copies of your FS2002 folders
FS2002\texture
FS2002\effects
FS2002\scenedb\world\texture
2. Move all files in the above folders to the back-up folders
2. Make sure you really did back-up copies. If you don't you can't go back to the old FS2002 look if you would like to. Always make back-ups.
3. Copy files from FS2004 to FS2002
FS2004\texture to FS2002\texture
FS2004\effects to FS2002\effects
FS2004\scenery\world\texture to FS2002\scenedb\world\texture
Make sure you Copy not Move. You will certainly use FS2004 sometime
4. Fire up your old trusty FS2002. And be ready for your jaw to drop!
You won't get the new weather machine, but the clouds, you will however get the new improved Auto-gen. And you will get better fps, actually. Don't ask me why, just enjoy.

P.S. (Anders calls his hybrid version FS2003.) Anders is developing a virtual Imperial Airways 1933 and is basing it on his FS2003. I've tested a little of his scenery in FS2004 and it seems to be compatible, but geographical features are a little different in each version.
