Just to bring together 'Ttools troubles' and 'Oh Calamity' and progress so far.

Off I went yesterday morning and carried out the 'System Recover'. The recovery took about 5 minutes and the checking took somewhat longer. I had recovered using a predetermined recovery point of 14:43 hrs on Thursday afternoon. Seemed very smooth with a sliding bar indicating the progress of the recovery.

Then I discovered that the recovery had upset my McAfee protection system but that did not take long to put right, just a question of getting all the updates loaded (reloaded?). All went well and I am assured by McAfee that I am operating a secure system!!(?)

Back to Fs9 and RAF Metheringham (WIP). I was puzzled that for some days I had two entries for RAF Metheringham appear on my Airfield Selection List. I had recalled the comments that AI, which I have had trouble getting to work properly, would not work properly if there were two AFCADS for the same airfield. I did have that problem. One I had saved under the code EGMN (RAF Metheringham ID letters were 'MN') in my earliest attempts at building that airfield but I deleted that Afcad quickly yet still the two entries appeared. I examined the FS9 Scenery cfg file and deleted an EGNM entry - still the two RAF Metheringhams appeared. I used Windows 'Search' to find files containing the airfield name to no avail. At last and just by chance I went back to the AFCAD program and summoned up RAF Metheringham to find it in the UK 'tree' but reading 'EGNM'!!! EGNM is the code for Leeds Bradfield! I had saved one of my early AFCAD efforts but mis-typed the code, typing EGNM instead of EGMN and then saving that AFCAD. Off to the world/scenery/ file and deleted the rogue EGNM file and lo and behold I now had only one RAF Metheringham entry in my FS9 Airfield Selection menu. A hard lesson learned.

A hard lesson because having got rid of my Ttools program to try a new AI program I have now still lost much of my AI acft and flightplans. The rectification work will take some weeks because the new AI program renumbered my AI acft. I did find a three year old file stashed away which has some of my RAF Ford FAA traffic and I shall rebuild from there as and when the urge takes me. What a price to pay for the simple transposition of two letters when 'saving' an AFCAD!

Trouble is I still cannot get an AI Lancaster and Halifax to appear on my WIP Metheringham. Does anyone else have a working AI Lanc or Halifax for FS9? I am using the freeware ALPHA Halifax which comes with an AI model but I just cannot get it to work with my newly downloaded/installed Ttools.

If it helps there is an AI Lancaster as part of the BBMF AI package at ACG (airfield construction group). The package is available for both FSX and FS9 (with a native model for each IIRC). You do have to sign in and get the download password before you can get it though.
