A little competition

Post by TSR2 »

When we move over to the new server, I'm wanting two screenshots of each of the models we feature in the library to give would be punters an idea of what the aircraft looks like at its best. I'd like to throw this out to you guys to see what you can come up with as we have a number of excellent screenshot guys here. Unfortuately, the only "prize" we can offer is that the images chosen will be used in the library for that particular aircraft and credit will be given.

As with all things in life, there are some rules, although not many:
1. The aircraft must be the ones downloaded from either our library and or DM's website (http://www.dmflightsim.co.uk)
2. They must only be of aircraft and repaints that are included in the packs available from here or DM's site. Repaints availale elsewhere must not be used.
3. The aircraft or model must be the main focus of the screenshot, i.e. not loads of scenery etc which is beautiful to look at, but the aircraft only taking up a small proportion of the screen.
4. You may take in internal screenshot as well as an external if you wish, but you must submit two screenshots for each aircraft or model.
5. As per forum rules (for now) images displayed in this thread should be no more than 800 wide, HOWEVER originals should be at least 1024 wide and these should be available if your entry is selected as one of the winning ones.
6. Please post your entries in this thread, clearly stating which model your screenshot is representing, the Sim version (FS9 or FSX) and number each pic 1 and 2 respectively.

Still after these? I've had these on my PC for a while (will make sure to take other shots when I boot up FSX) Cropped from originals in 1920/1080 and resized to 800.

If not quite right I will do some specifically for this. :)

I think it's got missed being in the announcements section. But the occasional bump will help :)

Hello Ben -
I have the Viking, DH89 and Dove in a variety of paints, mostly from the Pond as was.
I decided to download them again from CBFS, to make sure I had the right ones.
The Viking and DH89 came in fine, but when I tried the Dove, this happened (image is 1024 wide):
http://home.exetel.com.au/mikeward/duffdovedl.jpg

I thought it was just traffic, but it seems to be looking for a zip.part rather than a zip ?

EDIT UPDATE: Just discovered in my Downloads folder I now have CBFS_DH104_FS9_model.zip.part (10991KB) and CBFS_DH104_FS9_model.zip (0KB)
I renamed the zip.part to just plain zip and Extracted it. IZArc put up a whinge about a bad zip header, but I said go ahead anyway. Later it reported a CRC failure on Dove_fuse.bmp
and when I looked in the texture folder only doveparts.bmp was present. The only texture folder in the archive is texture.BE, although the cfg is set up for 7 variants and the model folders for those are present.
In between my original post and this edit, I tried the d/l again but it just sat there telling me it was 'Loading' .

Sorry to bother you, and please don't stay up all night on this - as a fully trained Granpa I know what the littlies can do ;)

Hi Mike,

Is that some sort of download untility you're using? Just tried downloading on my two Win 7 pc's and a Win XP machine that I'm fixing for a mate and it came down and extracted fine. *-)

Just another thought Mike, I've tried opening the zip with the windows built in extracter and 7zip, both of which work fine, could it be your unzipping tool? *-)

Hi Ben -
Thanks for your replies. IZArc is just another freebie multi-unzipper, it does rar files and so on as well as plain old zips.
I just pulled down a second download and it is a tad over 20MB so I think the first one must have gone amiss.
It looks fine in WinZip - lots more texture folders. IZArc has been OK since I first got it, so I will try it in that too.
Thanks very much for your help - now off to bed with you ! ;)
