Google Chrome

Post by ianhind »

I know that many of you won't use Chrome, but for those of us who do, they have dropped the ball. Adobe Flash player has been integrated into Chrome so that the latest version is always installed but suddenly it doesn't work any more, at least on 64bit Win7.

Problem has been around for a few days so YouTube etc doesn't work any more. I'm starting to use Firefox more but of course my recent bookmarks are in Chrome so need to transfer them. But having done that, how long before I bother with Chrome again?

Anyone else finding this?

I have Chrome installed but haven't used it for ages as I can't stand the layout on a widescreen monitor especially if websites do not fill the space, you can't have a bookmarks list in a pane on the left like IE of Firefox to help use up the space. But I use Palemoon most of the time (it's Firefox without the slowness) and also Lunascape.

Hi Ian. 32 bit Win 7 here. Chrome has been my default browser for a long time and I've had no problems recently. YouTube is working fine.

I do still have IE8 and Firefox icons on the desktop and use them occasionally. They're working fine too.

Ian :)

There were quite a few warnings about Chrome on this weeks Cyber Report.

Hi Ian,

There was an issue recently (a couple of weeks ago *-)) with a Flash Player upgrade...I'm on Firefox (W7 64) and FP upgraded then suddenly youtube, etc., wouldn't play..black screens and so on.

I did a google, sorry can't be specific, 'flash player black screen' or 'youtube won't play' or something like that and found some results with links to earlier versions..uninstalled, reinstalled previous version and that did the trick

I haven't allowed FP updates yet, just in case.

Hope this helps.

Derek ;)

edit, just noticed that you have 64bit too, that may be the common denominator ;)

Well it seems to be fixed now  (at last).

Edit: cancel that! maybe I was using Firefox at the time :dunno:

And there is also a location setting in Google now which I can't get rid of so the adverts are "targeted". I think I'll look at those alternatives.
