TTools Problem

Post by hobby »

I have used Ttools for FS without any problems since it first appeared many years ago.

This afternoon I tried to make an AI flight from my new WIP RAF Metheringham. Totally unsuccessful - met with a complete 'brick wall'!!! Every time I tried to compile my program I was greeted with the following message:

"Unable to open output file \..\Scenery\World\Scenery\traffic_TEMP"

!) I then uninstalled Tttools saving my current airports, aircraft, and flightplans.
2) Re-installed Ttools as a fresh installation inserting my current airports, aircraft and flightplans - same message appeared after compile.
3) Carried out Windows 'Search' for the above message - answer invalid file name.
4) Deleted my EGMT aircraft, airport and flightplan entries. Ran Ttools - same message!!

My FS9 AI traffic still works as programmed but I cannot find this errant file to delete it and I obviously cannot produce any further AI flightplans for any airfield or aircraft on my FS9 program.

Incidentally the FS2004 'Airfields' text file appears to contain nothing at all; no text at all!

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi James :hello:

Are you still able to decompile traffic.bgl files or is TTools not doing that either?

Try changing the "User defined traffic folder" to somewhere other than Scenery\World\Scenery.

Hi matey,

TTools, is a bit long in the tooth these days. try AI flight planner (works for both FS9 and FSX) and is infinitely easier to use and you don't have to play about with text files. Available here>>> http://members.shaw.ca/aifp/

Its absoluteley first class, I promise you won't be disappointed. ;)

Hi Dave:
Ttools won't do anything at all!! Has every appearance of a 'dead' program.

Have downloaded aifp latest zip from the link provided by Ben and will give that a go during the weekend.

Thanks to all for help so far.

The address in the right hand slot of Ttools should be:-

X:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\World\Scenery\

And the right window should show a list of all your Traffic.bgl files at that location...If that doesn't happen then it is broken and needs to be reinstalled. Note..You would not really be able to reinstall it if you have recently re-installed your Operating System and thus removed FS9 from your Registry...FS9 will still work but bits associated with it may not work...If you have done this then is a simple way to get your FS9 re-registered in the registry without losing all your addon scenery etc.
Let me know if this is the case and I will give you a step by step guide to doing it :)
