Well, I only went by the registration database entries. Compare this one for 'GB: http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/HistoricalMaterial/G-ASGB.pdf with this one for 'GC for example: http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/HistoricalMaterial/G-ASGC.pdf.

But then again, they could have easily added a 'Cunard' sticker to 'GB to fill in for another '10 that got sick perhaps? I may just e-mail the photographer of that shot to ask him how sure he is of that registration. Interesting puzzle!

Hi Jelle :hello:

That may explain it mate. Had it been 'proper' BOAC Cunard, I feel the reg doc would have read as 'GC' :)

I tried contacting the photographer but he has blocked his e-mail on Airliners.net and I don't have an account there. Is there anyone with an Airliners.net account who is willing to contact him?

I tried to send this message through the IM system on the site but it needs a login for that, so Paul, if you're willing to pass it on (I'll send Paul a message about this):

Hello,

I have a question about your photo of a Super VC10 at JFK in May 1965: http://www.airliners.net/photo/BOAC-Cunard/Vickers-Super-VC10/0093699/L/

How sure are you of the registration G-ASGB? Is there a chance that it could be 'GC, 'GD, 'GE or 'GF? I'm asking this as those are the only four Super VC10s that were registered to BOAC/Cunard. The other ones were never re-registered and the question is whether they received the Cunard logo's as well.

I was hoping that your original negative might be able to clear this up, the photo on the site is not clear enough to be sure of the registration.

With thanks for your time,
Feel free to copy and paste, saves typing!

The photographer is Mel Lawrence, username 'skyliner5'.
