Polluting the countryside

Post by VEGAS »

Cargo flight this morning up to the Outer Hebrides. The Herc always kicks out a little smoke. :)

I'm guessing Dave means like where I am....the weather was nice and like that this morning and now it's all cloudy and showery :((

That's how I red it anyway

No.. nowt juicy from Brooklands. Not been for a fortnight due to the wet stuff :( The sky was almost clear blue this morning.. just the odd flick of cloud here and there. By opening time, it had gone to rat sh1t and then some.. full 8/8 cover with matching wet stuff. Still raining now though it's eased. We had hail yesterday! :-O

Lol no, but the temptation was there after coming off a 12 hour night shift... I've got four days off now, woo!

Hmmm. A couple of observations from an ex-pat Yorkshireman living up here.

It's a lovely thought that an RAF Herc, or anyone else's Herc, would be used to bring freight into the islands. But the reality is different - it would be. Freight comes via the ferries - cheaper and you can't get much freight into a Herc for 26,000 people. We have a dedicated freight ferry - the Muirneag (means "beloved one" what b@llocks that is in reality). The freight ferry is nicknamed "The Olympic Flame" ie it never goes out - long story.

Mark's point about the Islay whiskies is interesting. No bugger, except me, drinks them!!! The locals live on- wait for it - Vodka :dunno: Can you believe it? If any whisky is drunk it's usually a cheap blend, not even a good one. Mind you if the Herc crash landed on a beach here then the locals would strip the bugger of everything including the booze within a few hours! And then they'd eat the pilots :-O
