Missing signature

Oh , I've just noticed something.
some of us (me included) have our user names typed in slanted text at the bottom of the site where is shows whos logged in....
. I think I remember Darren's name as well once but thought nothing of it untill just now.

I thought that was hidden members and only mods could see the names.

I appear as italic but have no issues with my sig so that's a mismatch on that score

I'm not a mod, and whenever I sign in checking the hidden feature I don't see my name at all.

rechecking the italicized text mine shows in italic when hidden and normal when not

Hi Guys..

This has already been noted and yes.. showing italicized indicates the user is (or should be) hidden to all except admin. This option has never been made available to users (that is, you could see yourself hidden but not anyone else) and is another problem the phpBB update has caused. Some users appear to have this option available and others don't

Ben is on the case but it's difficult to know where to start. Our global setting is that no registered user is allowed to see anyone other than themselves hidden. Pick a selection of users and some have the option available! If it were everyone, the action to stop it would be easy but it's not. Global settings appear to no longer have global coverage Let's hope phpBB come up with a fix before anything else lets go

I use the invisible option because I tend to keep tabs active but not used for a while and don't want anyone to think I'm ignoring them if they see me online

That's fine Darren.. it's an option every registered user has I've been 'hidden' myself but not for a few years now as I like members to see some admin presence even though I may not be the one they wish to see
The problem we have (other than with signatures) is the option for users to see hidden users. This has always been set to 'Never' and it still is but the update has turned this on for some members leading these to suddenly see usernames in italics.. effectively letting them see hidden members. Had this happened across the board.. automatically selected see hidden users, it would be a simple matter to reset our Global setting to counter it.. turn it off again. For reasons still unknown, the option has been opened on some but not all members and resetting the option appears to have no effect. Two words spring to mind.. Balls up

Thank goodness past updates haven't been this troublesome otherwise I'm sure we'd have moved away from phpBB All I can say is hang in there. If the forum goes down suddenly, It will probably be because Ben has taken it down but at the moment, I'm as much in the dark as the rest of you
