Royal Navy warships?
Hi, new to the forum and hope this is the right place for this, I asked this over at SOH and was advised to ask here, so. I'm making a couple of sceneries for FS2004 and I desperately need modern RN warships and Royal Fleet Auxiliaries. I've got Invincible class carriers, Type 23 Frigates and HMS Ocean. What I really need is a Type 42 destroyer and RFA Argus but I'll take anything I can get my hands on. I know it's a tall order but I found these while searching http://forum.avsim.net/topic/82106-maki ... fsx-ships/ http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1432 does anybody know what happened to these or know who they are? Guest_avrovulcan (Andy), on Avsim, is a guest and Alan McGaughey, on FSDeveloper, hasn't been on the site in months according to his profile so I can't contact them directly. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi clarke123 and welcome to CBFS
Not quite sure why our friends at SOH directed you here but better here than nowhere
We have had a County Class DLG and both Fearless and Intrepid on the go (both for FSX) but to the best of my knowledge, no Type 42 or Argus. Rick Piper was doing the County and Dave Garwood was working on Intrepid/Fearless. I've seen nothing new from either for 12months or more I'm afraid.

I've posted this on 4 forums now, trying to cover all my bases just in case.
I have got HMS Fearless now you mention it I got it with a scenery of RAF Khormaksar. Thanks anyway.

Re: Royal Navy warships?
I take it your being ironic when you use the words 'modern' and 'Type 42' in the same sentence?!
Unfortunately any ship's I've made/will make are for FSX so unlikely to be much use to you.

Re: Royal Navy warships?
I'm currently working on a Queen Elizabeth Class Carrier - STOVL and CATOBAR versions (I don't know if that's TOO modern for you).
Was planning to just release it for FSX, but I could look into creating a scenery file for FS2004 if this model is something you are looking for.
You can see the WIP pics at flyingstations.com.
I plan to release in a few months time.....that's if I can figure out how to create a decent texture set, harden decks etc.
Having now decided to try my hand at modelling, I have an even greater respect to the guys that regularly produce models for free despite criticism from certain people within the flightsim community because an intake isn't quite the right shape, a texture is out of place, the aircraft flies at 0.0003 of a knot slower than the published data.......

Skippy, by modern I mean still limping along
JKAGary, it would be great to see a Queen Elizabeth class carrier that didn't have an empty flight deck for a decade
I'm primarily after ship's that were in service over the last ten years but like I said I'll take anything RN I can get my hands on. I agree with what you said about modelling. I got FSDS ages ago, looked at it and scratched my head for a while, then left it. I'm trying it again now because I found some source files for container ships and thought it might be a little easier to modify one into RFA Argus than starting from scratch. It ain't that much easier
One of the most frustrating things I've tried.

I'd like to see a fleet of scary big grey war canoes in FS

Error 482: Somebody shot the server with a 12 gauge.
Re: Royal Navy warships?
That would be down to me Dave - knowing certain people here were of a nautical bent it seemed sensible - and I think the answers proved that to be a correct assumption.DaveB wrote:Hi clarke123 and welcome to CBFS![]()

JKAGary, that Queen Elizabeth carrier sounds the business - then I could operate Typhoons from it, like they should be doing in real life!

Re: Royal Navy warships?
Perhaps not what you're after but I have been enjoying a bit of Royal Navy long lost, during a bit of colonial good will visiting.
HMS Drake, Armoured Cruiser. 1901-1917.

Might be useful to have in port as a Museum ship?

I'd love to see HMD Rodney steaming along
