Fokker f27 flameout on touchdown Fraser A. McKay

Hello guys

i have a question regarding Fraser A. McKay's panel for the fokker f-27.

because sometimes the engines flameout on touchdown (just when the props return to 'ground fine pitch') even when i operated the PUD's and fuel heaters according to the manual.
another time only one engine flamed out
i have tried several times to recreate this event by for example not operating the fuel heaters, in that case the engines do flameout in flight, but not on touchdown.

so what could possibly be the reason for this?

i'm using mike stone's fokker f-27 with the f2700v4 panel from Fraser A. McKay

As long as you're turning off the fuel heaters prior to landing you shouldn't have a problem with flameout unless there's something else you're doing that's causing it. Do you also have the fuel trimmers to max decrease (0%)?

Hi,

I'm pretty sure the Herald will shut the engines down if you land too hard, an 'acceleration/G' switch shuts the fuel off I believe. Maybe Fraser has this built into the F27 as well :dunno:

Yes indeed.. the generators will trip if you hit the deck too hard in the 748/780 and the props go into fine. Never had it happen on the Herald (was it Herald you were thinking of John or the 748?) but it may be present on the F27 *-)

I also noticed I misspoke in my post - make sure the fuel trimmers are set for the proper field conditions (usually 100% or close to it), not 0% on landing. They should be 0% for descent and then brought up once you've started slowing for the approach and begin re-applying power to prevent a hot core if you need to execute a go-around.

Blimey Chris.. this level of authenticity I can do without. It's difficult enough landing :lol: I have Frasers panel here somewhere (perhaps on my old pc) but never got into flying the '27. No valid reason really.. we have loads of nice routes for it too ;)

I don't think there's any more realism to the panel than with the HS.748/780. :)

Fraser makes some awesome panels though, makes flying any airplane more interesting. :)

guys thanks for all the replies

well i did some flights again , but now i didn't turn off the fuel heaters until the last moment (+/- 1 min.) before touchdown.
i'm pretty sure this was the cause because now it didn't happen again.

before i usually turned off the fuel heaters along whith the PUD's when OAT reached +06 degrees, because i thought that would do for the '2 minutes during descent' in the manual.

Glad you're sorted ali ;)

Sri Fraser didn't get here to answer your query in person but folk are all over the place at this time of year and he seems to be no exception :lol: If you get any more problems, don't be afraid to come back. One of the F27 users will get back to you if not Fraser himself ;)
