On The Horizon - A New Combat Sim

Posted: Sunday, October 17, 2010 - 18:22
Aerosoft and Thunderworks Ltd. have created a partnership for the development and publication of a totally new combat flight simulator for the PC Windows platform. Under the title "Jet Thunder" it will allow the virtual combat pilot to fight for air supremacy over the South Atlantic during the Falklands/Malvinas conflict in 1982.

In the first release the user will be flying an RAF Harrier from the detailed HMS Hermes and battle the Argentinean fighters in support of the Fleet Air Arm Sea Harriers, defend the British ships from attack, prepare the landing operations and provide close air support for the Royal Marines and Paratroopers. The Harrier is expertly modeled and fully operational. From a 'cold and dark' start, all the way to shut down the systems are as they are in the real aircraft. In 2011 there will be additions that expand the project to Argentinean aircraft, more British aircraft and more game play.

Interesting or tacky...? Depends what end of the Atlantic you come from i suppose... :worried:

Would be fun to administer a right proper shoeing to the Argies :)

I've had my eye on this for years, but it doesn't look quite as polished as some other new combat sims (DCS), although it is still in development, of course.

I was just having a laugh with The Boss the other day, about getting a bunch of Brits and a bunch of Argies of a certain age online together for a scrap. Now that would be interesting!

Single Teamspeak channel for all, of course!

I actually am looking forward to giving this a try. Brit Harriers will be released first, with Argie aircraft following in a later update. Don't think I'll be getting the update *-)

Would be interesting if you use other stuff like MLRS for some grid square removal firemissions

I must admit it does look quite good, and I reckon the finished prduct will be quite good :) Mind you, I have just been on the home paage of their site, that Harrier GR3 looks great, wonder if they could port it to FS

I´ll give it a try. Models are looking very nice,
also Helicopters will be flyable (in later updates).
And it will be modable.
