Got to agree with Rick, don't know if I could even remember how to develope something for FS9 now. Still have the discs but then again I am a hoarder!

Love it. My PC is now 4 years old and runs it without problem. Things that paricularly make it for me, AI shipping that can be customised, infinately better water and clouds than FS9 and with the GenX addons, the UK is superbly textured, Day and Night. Its a no brainer. :)

Not for me.
I've got a new mega PC and both FS2004 & FSX.
I don't use FSX at all. And I've got REX (prefer ASv6 in FS9), GenX VFR 1-3 (fortunately accidentally for free as I don't like that either).
Recently got Heathrow, Manchester, Gatwick, Birmingham extreme too. Only because you get them for both sims.
Tried Heathrow in FSX & it's too choppy to use.

Admittedly I haven't obsessed with tweaks for FSX and overclocking etc, but then I don't see enough on offer over my FS9 world. I just don't get it.
Absolutely hate the jaggy shadows too.
I'm sure I could be convinced by someone elses perfect FSX setup, but not mine I'm afraid.

I still have my free set of discs for FSX but I have not installed it in my new machine and prefer not to. Its basic form is just sooo basic and I decided that without spending a load of money it could just not compare to my hugely built FS9...I just love the high framerates and smoothness of FS9 :)

I fall in the 'Marmite' camp though I don't actually hate FSX (now). That said.. I only ever use it on VA flights with the payware (FSX only) Islander and for beta testing other folks models. I still actively buy addons for FS9 and where possible, ones that go to both sims.. just in case. I don't have a mega pc (it only has 2 cores!) but like DM.. I found the FSX versions of the UK2000 Xtreme series run like a dog while the FS9 versions run a treat
I won't uninstall FSX.. I like the shipping (particularly trapping on a moving Ark Royal) but I doubt I'll ever drop FS9 or move any closer to FSX than I am already (which is distant). Superbly detailed GenX2 is great if all you have to do is fart around in an Auster all day but to earn a crust (VA flying) it wouldn't matter if there were NO ground textures for the most part as you only see them on takeoff (briefly) and on approach (briefly).

It's nice to have both versions and I'll leave it at that ;)

FSX is a bit like Islay single malt. At first you don't like it and go back to what you know, but then you try it some more and learn to love it.

I tried it....thought it not too bad, then went back after a bit and realised it was not as good as I thought.

Bit opposite to you Mark

You should be so lucky  One example of why I don't use FSX.. this from a.m. today..

1. double click FSX
2. select default flight (Cessna St Just)
3. change airfield to Kinloss and save flight
4. select Nimrod to check for smoke
5. exit FSX
6. Remove previous Nimrod and add new Nimrod
7. double click FSX
8. select new default flight (Cessna Kinloss)
9. change aircraft to Nimrod
10. takeoff in new Nimrod
Time taken for the above evolution.. a gnats testicle short of 40mins! 8) Time taken to remove and refile old Nimrod and install new one.. around 1.5mins. I've since turned down everything (turned off some things.. autogen for example) in the hope that I can get a look at the new Nimrod again before either Brian or me croaks it

OK then Dave

Just the FS.9 versions then

Loading times are abyssal for me too and like waiting for the proverbial boiling kettle seem to be ten times longer than the time seems to suggest.

So I'm usually asleep by the time something comes up

Trouble is I have a single core and just 1GB ram :(
