I KNOW you will. All such paints I've done in this fashion (which thankfully isn't many).. I've been ready to let them go without cutting the alpha and thought no.. Garry will check this so went back and did the necessary  At that point, I retired  The spectre of 'Garry Russell' hangs over me every time I get the paint pot out so I sold the lot :cpu:

Err.. I doubt it

Back on the subject of Comets (which is off topic for the thread! :worried: ) .. have you seen how may Comet 4C's we have DM :-O I'm gonna make a list of all the ones we have on strength and hope they were all Dan Dare :cpu:

Edit..
Yes, they were all Dan Dare ;) However.. they were not all 'common' paints.. they wouldn't be would they 8)
AROV - White fin
AYVS - White fin/Red fin
AYWX - White fin/Red fin
BDIF - Red fin
BDIT - Red fin
BDIU - Red fin
BDIV - Red fin
BDIW - Red fin
BDIX - Red fin

Just to make it more complicated, there are variations on cheat lines too (though a common denominator can probably be found) :)

Quite common Dave :worried:

Dan Air had various cheatlines on the HS748 too.
They seem to have been a little more approximate than others.

Stil..not quite as bad as BAF Viscounts in hoops where every aircraft was different or the early BKS where each of the 748 was not only different but one had the cheatline back to front :-O  ........all their V.700 had different variations too :wall:

I guess their paintshop had a free hand. 'This is roughly what we want.. please yourself on how you do it'

Talking of BAF Viscounts.. I was talking to the Team Leader of APIM at Brooklands yesterday and when they repaint the fuse, they're not repainting it in it's current BAF titles so for the first time in a long time.. it looks like she'll be painted accurately ;)

I found a pic of a BAF hoops Viscount that was a new one on me the other day. G-AOHV as the first enetring serice with the whole nose ahead of the hoop in blue.....like the Heralds.

Good news about G-APIM, she never wore those titles and in fact had long continued to be the last machine to wear the original British Air Ferries titles after all the other had aquired British titles.

At the time it made me think that was saying she was for the chop, but no, she turned up with the British titles not long it seems before she was written off.

Well Nige, I tried to start on a BIA fleet. Not sure if I'll finish it.
The real BIA paint jobs are hillarious! :wall:

I did start using a nice tail shot from AYWB. Only to find on completeion that its BIA has the opposite italic slant to all the others.
On closer inspection, it's difficult to say if any of them has the same font and spacing!
AYWB isn't even in our fleet, I just picked it because the photo was straight.

I gave up. But after a while I decide to go back and do a bit of fuselage.
Which photo do I pick? Again totally at random - AXMG.
After a while it dawns on me that AXMG is different to all the rest.
In fact, in the photo of AYWB I reckon it has the randome off AXMG as the line up is about a foot out.

Then I had a quick look at the 'British Island Airways' titles.
Size, spacing, slant, you name it. I can't even be sure they looked the same on both sides.

I reckon we have CBIA, AXOX, AXMU, AVOF (Basic Air Manchester?), AXMG, AWWZ.
I would like to do them, each with their proper differences, but I'm not sure I have the patience (or the ability).

:hide:

No worries Dave, I've got a 400 and a 500, that'll do.

YWB had a black radome for a while after a lightning strike blew off the "matched" one on departure from Birmingham one night.

When WWZ was delivered from Monarch to BIA, it was in BIA colours but no titles as it was leased to BCal Mon-Fri and we used it for IT charters at the weekend.

Thanks for looking anyway
