I'm at work now, so can't be too specific on the wording, but when I fire up FS9, I'm getting a warning that "FS9 failed to load aircraft or software, you can continue but the following blah blah blah cannot be used - FSUPIC.DLL".
I'm assuming it's something I've downloaded that's not compatible with the FSUIPC version. I've been getting it intermittently for a while but usually just re-installing FSUIPC as cured it. Now it won't.
Any ideas anyone??

Wish I could think of something useful but I can't off the top of my head I'm pretty certain that DM made sure all of his models were non-FSUIPC reliant (I say that knowing how much time you spend in the One-Elevens) so they will still work whether you have it installed or not. However, so many other addons need it, it could be difficult to narrow the problem down. I guess the easiest thing to do is look at what you've installed recently and remove the offending item but thinking about it.. that probably wouldn't work as the issue seems to be with FSUIPC itself Hmm.. an odd one.
Will FS start with a default aircraft or is it seeing a problem with FSUIPC and not starting at all?? The message seems to indicate it can't load a particular aircraft because of a prob with FSUIPC and I can't see this being one of DM's.
I'll think about it some more in the hope that something worthwhile strikes me.. and not a huge brick
FS9 will start but FSUIPC won't. Major problem that gives me is with the FSA client which is why I'm stuck in DUS to bring XJK back. I loaded some DUS scenery so I'll get rid of that and see if that helps and maybe build a new fs9.cfg and/or scenery.cfg.
I have been toying with the idea of a re-install lately so this maybe a good time to do that so I can get rid of a lot of the deadwood in my hangar that I've accumulated over the years and scenery for places that I go once in a blue moon. Amazing how you try a aircraft, don't like it and never fly it again but just leave it gathering virtual dust.

Tried that one. Didn't work as an add-on I had wasn't compatable with it so went back to an older version which worked, problem was it was too old for FSA Client so back to the newer one with no joy. Now the older one won't play ball either.
Gonna try taking all my CD-installed add-ons out first and re-install FSUPIC. If no joy, then I'll start with the downloaded add-ons but by that time I'll be getting to the point that I might as well go for my long-considered re-install of the whole thing and rebuild it more to reflect what I do now rather than the over-enthusiastic "I'm new at this and enjoying it, I'll download everything in sight" which was how I started out about 4 years ago.

Nigel, there should be two log files in the FS9 Modules folder, FSUIPC.log and FSUIPC Install.log. You might try opening with notepad to see if those logs, especially the first log above, indicate any problems. Not sure if this will be fruitful, but worth a try.
Hi Nigel -
I remember in Mr D's manual, he is quite insistent that you should only ever have one instance of fsuipc.dll present on the computer. If you just want to swap for testing, you should rename the first one to fsuipc.dlx (fr'instance) to disable it. Just moving it out of FS9 to a storage folder doesn't work. Otherwise all manner of weird things can happen.
(That's the voice of experience you are hearing)
Solved! I had an interface for the Saitek X52Pro that puts flight data on the MFD downloaded and removing this has cured the problem. Must have been some .dll incompatability there.
