Oh yes Dave...I love the sounds those big radials make. Especially when idling with all that popping and banging. I only noticed the exhaust flames for the first time on this flight and they seem to be one per cylinder with no gathering manifold, so I guess all those short stubs would make one hell of a noise

I remember one time at Duxford, I was behind one when he did his run-up. I was nearly asphyxiated and deafened...
