While many of us haven't achieved this feat yet, there are a few who have so to stop any confusion, I'll quickly run over what you need to do.
Scenario A - The Diversion.
If for some reason you have a problem.. eg, you're low on fuel and know you're not going to make your destination, the 'Divert' facility exists on the client page. The only drawback with using Divert is that it must be declared before you start a descent. I'm not quite sure what happens if you call a 'Divert' and you don't use tracker but for the sake of argument.. only use it while in the cruise. You will have already selected your divert airfield (I hope) so.. when you're ready to go there.. click the Divert button on the client page then make your way to the divert airfield. When you've landed, do everything you would on a normal flight.. eg, apply the parking brake, make any notation in the client window then end the flight and close the client. The system will log your diversion and automatically make a flight from there to your original destination. All you have to do to continue is go to FSA and select 'Book Flight' and you'll find the auto-generated onward flight there ready for you to book. Revenue off this flight is a little unclear but basically, the original pax have already paid so you'll get no more money from them. You may pick up extra bods (if possible) but what you should end up with is your onward flight with no extra revenue earned. If you need to take more fuel, this will be taken into consideration and deducted.
Scenario B - Landing at the wrong airport.
While this would be a simple diversion had the 'Divert' option been selected, it turns into something a lot more horrible if you haven't. You have an aircraft full of pax who are now where they didn't want to be and as a consequence, the VA's reputation goes down the pan until confidence returns. You, as the pilot, will also lose a chunk off your rating. There is no auto-generated flight made so you end up in a very unhappy situation being in the wrong place with no way to get out (unless you are lucky and a route out exists.. this often isn't the case).
If no onward flight exists, the only way out is to let one of the CEO's know (as if we didn't know already) and we will add a flight from the 'wrong airport' to the new one. Don't move from that airfield as you'll be abandoning the aircraft.. FSA will not move you to where you should be.. it will leave you where you are.
If you are lucky enough to land at a wrong airport where flights for that type already exist.. you can, to all intents, abandon the poor pax you started with (they will already have had their money back and chosen another airline or gone by bus!) and simply book another flight.
When sufficient flights have been made after the original faux pas.. the VA's reputation goes back to 120 (it doesn't matter who flies.. all subsequent flights by the VA work to get rid of the dent on our reputation) and you can set about getting your rating back. Your 'flights' will always show this wasn't a completed flight but your rating can be got back to 100% in the fullness of time.
So, to summarise, if you're in difficulty.. use the Divert option in the client window whenever possible. Consider it a get out of jail free card as neither you or the VA get hit and the status quo remains. If you can't use the Divert option (eg, you're already in descent).. the options are few. If you land at the wrong airport.. you will be penalised as will the VA. If you know this is going to happen, I suppose you could consider aborting the flight.
If on the other hand, you thought you'd booked A to B and really booked A to C.. then the whole 'Wrong Airport' scenario will be a very nasty shock! Your heart will sink and you'll start uttering very bad words under your breath.
