Alternatives for Adobe Flash Player ?

Anyone use something other than Flaash player to watch youtube vids?

If so, could you tell me what you like about it and if it makes for better viewing of vids over flash player

I'm about fedup with it.

Do you mean saved vids on the HDD or on the YouTube site? YouTube must have the option of using HTML5 as it works on my iPad (no flash support). The specific app is fantastic too.

As far as I know mate, only flash plays flash (if that makes sense) I'm not aware of an alternative. In saying that I never have any bother with it. What sort of problems are you having?

I'm just so fedup with adverts that popup over the top of text I'm trying to read.
I swear I will never do business with a company that uses such tactics.
If they are that hard up , No telling how they will treat me as a customer..


It's getting so bad on some webpages that I read my local news on I want to go down to the office building
and personally tell them their adverts are a complete waste of time,... for me anyways.
I mean really how rude ...


But not from this top notch site ... first class it is.

Depending on which browser you use you can just get a pop up blocker that'll stop the annoying ads. Opera seems to do this out of the box as it were and I think Firefox does as well as having various ad-blocker plug-ins available.

You Tube is mainly flash based at the moment unless you use the mobile site or an iPod/Pad/Ped app. I know the mobile site didn't used to have all the videos on and I'm not sure how the iApp gets round it. The HTML 5 video tag is being trialled with some videos but even with an enabled browser I haven't actually seen that many use it yet.

Like you guys said, HTML5 is in beta and will only play some of the videos. I don't have the time to work out issues with a beta program
so it's Flash and more popup blockers.
I use the offerings ( popup blockers ) that came with the computer, and I have them set to block the content that is so bothersome.
Awhile ago I asked (here) about the settings that can be made on Adobes site stating they wouldn't stick for me.
NigelB reported he was having no such problems and seamed happy to share that fact with me.

One thing I didn't try, was to turn off the security measures I have set; that could be the cause of the changes not sticking.
....
Off to the dungeon of trial and retribution.

Woohoo No more flash ad popups! Firefox is the answer to that and It keeps the windows security warning from popping up as well.
That would happen 5 or 6 times on the local news sites .
