FSX Realair Spitfire request

Post by Blister »

My dad use to be a fitter in the RAF and claims that he worked on the Shuttleworth Spitfire

Now in his 80's I would love to be able to "show him round" the Realair Spit in these colours and then put it through it's paces as he watched.

I have many happy memories as he took students to airshows - being left to my own devices on occasion - (He was a lecturer at Loughborough University)

Happy days - can anyone help recreate them?

Here's hoping!

(and thank you in advance!)

<--- wishes he could do this sort of thing!

That is looking great! I know, it's a shame about the mark - but the thought is what counts! I can't thank you enough!

Some inspiration to help you on your way!

I spoke to my father about it last night and he seems to think that when it arrived it was clipped wing - but I have'nt had time to google that yet....
They also had a Martlett (which is now being restored at Yeovilton and a Sea Hurricane - which also might be the Shuttleworth one). I have seen photos of the latter being craned into the Transport Technology Department there - might see if I can find the photos and identify it.

http://plane-crazy.purplecloud.net/Airc ... ricane.htm Confirmed - the Hurricane WAS the one that went to Shuttleworth (LF738)

I do remember a hydraulics contraption that had the joystick and wheels from a Spitfire - I wonder what happened to that! And there was a B25 Control panel - (too high for little boys to get their hands on unfortunately). This was all in addition to a Hunter (XE677 - later G-HUNN and the prototype Provost - that I spent HOURS in during the school holidays - seem to remember being told NOT to touch anything that was painted Yellow and Black for some reason!)

Happy days!
