Hiya Pete :hello:

Rgr and tks for that  You now have the Southern Region to conquer which, although not as intense as the Northern Region (nothing like Papa Westray down here!) has an extensive route structure and all new places to see ;) I think I've done all the SR routes but if you find one not yet done.. feel free to collect the bottle of virtual bubbly.

Hi Dave

I'll be looking at that in the next few days.

However, I have a question or two (maybe 3 or even 4 :) )

I'd like to move onto another aircraft in the not too distant future and I've had a look at such a/craft as the Dove and Viscount.

The problem I've found is that they're FS9 aircraft without virtual cockpits (which in FSX I use exclusively), and in the Dove especially, all I see in front of me is the 2D panel which fills the screen. I've tried using shift+enter to raise the eyepoint, but for some reason or other it doesn't work (none of the eyepoint controls work). The only way I've found to see forward, is to slide the whole panel window down thwe screen.

While there is absolutely nothing wrong with the aircraft models available if using FS9 (In fact I had a lot of them installed in my FS9 set up and loved them), there seems to be very little for FSX, So ...................

Are there any acceptable FSX aircraft that are known about (I haven't really found any when I've searched the usual sites)?
Any suggestions for an FS9 aircraft with a VC ?
Any suggestions to fix the viewpoint problem ?
Are any of the developers secretly working on FSX models :-# ( I'd love the Dove or Varsity in FSX) or VC's for the FS9 aircraft ?

Hi Pete

All the aircraft in the VA are the best there are and there is nothing secret going on in the background

There are still likely to be models made without VC and no plans to add VC's to those without.

Thanks Garry,

I'm not complaining about the quality of any of the CBFS models, in fact they're suberb, and amongst the best there are.

Although I'm a VC man myself, the 2D panel in the Dove for example is outstanding, and if I could sort the views out, I'd be more than happy to use it ............. in fact it's the Dove that I'd like to move onto.

Only wish I had the "nouse" to become a developer myself, then I could have a go at my own VC's and/or aircraft. I certainly take my hat off to those of you that can produce such gems.

Hi Pete

I didn't for a moment think you were complaining

it just that they are the best.i..f not they would not be in the VA ...so I don't want you wasting your time looking for something better

Making VC is very time consuming and not only modelling skills are needed but an understanding of how the real systems works and how to use computer coding tio make it happen

If it was at all easy to have VC's as well then they would be done as standard if the modeller wanted.

Personally I wouldn't as I never use VC's so don't see the point in spending a thousand hours making something I don't want to and would never use.

Different perhaps with fights but airliners can be used fine with a 2D

If I was interested in sitting in the cockpit all the time I would make a VC but not an outside model.and I'm serious

I spend most of my limited flying time outside

I wish I had both the time and the inclination to model but I don't and I don't see it ever happening. I do very little panel work these days so that's me.. retired

Re the eyepoint on 2D panels in FSX..
Your comments echo mine exactly mate. With some models, you just HAVE to be able to move around in 2D.. even just a little and to the best of my knowledge, FSX doesn't accommodate this function. For this reason, I fly the Virtavia Islander in FSX and everything else in FS9.. as far as the VA goes ;)
Should you wish to go a little slower than the Islander, DG has a 'native' FSX Rapide and while it doesn't have as many paints available as the FS9 model (our complete VA fleet is covered in FS9).. it does come with a lot of paints so might be worth looking into. You'll find a lot of duplication between the Islander and Rapide routes as a vast majority of Rapide routes were taken by the Islander. Flying the Rapide won't make you a fortune but it's an option to consider ;)

Strange, the Shift + Enter works for the eyepoint for FSX aircraft. but not for FS9. There must be someway to set the view to be able to see over the panel coaming in the Dove surely ? I'll just have to experiment sometime.

The Rapide is a nice aircraft, but I was looking to move up a bit in size/speed, and was hopeing to go the Dove/Herald/?? route. I've downloaded and installed the FSX Hastings, but of course that's a military aircraft with no routes in CBFS.

No worry, I'm back at work on Monday, so very little FS for 6 weeks. By the time I can fly again I'll be ready to get back in the Islander, and go round Scotland again :)

Shift enter should work with FS.9.does with me at least *-)

Check your key assignment has not corrupted or been lost in FS.9
