Seems some SP version have already had support withdrawn

As I understand it from The Register's article on this a while back, MS are basically trying to minimise the number of configurations of XP and Vista that they're supporting. I.e. they only have to write updates/patches for XP SP3 and Vista with a SP, they stopped supporting XP with only SP1 a while back. I don't think it's an indication that they're planning on ending support anytime soon.

I'm SP3 on this pc and the office system (though none of my others but I rarely use them online now anyway)
