Following a thread on Simouthouse yesterday I have downloaded an Escort Carrier but I do not know how to convert the carrier to a scenery object so that I can position the converted carrier with EZ scenery in several locations.
Having positioned the carrier I would like to use AFCAD2 to produce a hard deck for t/o and landing using Rob B's gauges for catapults and arrestor wires.
Can someone please tell me how the cfs2 carrier can be converted to a scenery object and also how to use EZ scenery to position the carrier?

Might be worth a PM to Mr Garwood, as he did this with the old Alphasim Hermes?

I used "Aircraft Container Manager" (payware, no longer available AFAIK) to import the Hermes into Max, from there I could export as a scenery BGL.
This will not work with models made with Gmax or later versions of FSDS, and of course, you'll need permission from the original author.

At present the original author has given his permission provided that full credit is given to himself in the documentation accompanying the modified ship model.
Many thanks for your help Dave G.

Dave G kindly had a look at this problem for me but has concluded:
"I’ve looked at the carrier, & unfortunately it’s not convertible.
Aircraft Container Manager will only export older models. It was handicapped this way as an anti-piracy measure.
Unless you can get hold of the original source code there’s nothing I can do."
A great pity because quite a number of the ships look very good and would have made useful additions to the Fs9 !939-50 fleets.

Ok as it's well known here, I have no technical brain at all when it comes to FS, but I was just wondering, if you can't set CF2 ships as scenery in FS9, is it possible to use them as ai? I think someone here said that you set the AI so that it 'appears' not to go anywhere? If that's so, once a CFS2 ship has been 'patched' to be pilot-able, like an FS9 aircraft, can't you use it as AI? I suppose that would mean setting up some bits of water with AFCADS etc, and that sounds like hideous work!

Uuuummm just read that back and it sounds as daft as it did when I typed it. But it sorta sounds like it should work?
Kind regards
John

Thats haow you get AI ships. Is it the Just Flight (FS9) London Scenery that comes with AI Thames traffic? The AFCAD file for that is a work of art.John wrote:I suppose that would mean setting up some bits of water with AFCADS etc, and that sounds like hideous work!

For my own amusement I did once get the Queen Mary II departing from Ascension Island & disappearing off southwards, but I have enough 'fun'
