Uninstalling FSX

Post by HawkerHart »

This problem be driving me up the wall :wall:
Rather sillyly I manually uninstalled FSX from my system to reinstall it on a new second hard drive. However now FSX wont let me install. Only modify or remove. And both these options eventually get errors and cancel. Been through the files and deleted everything I could see connected with FSX, still no luck. Then spent bout 90 mins going through the registry deleting everything concerning FSX or Flight Simulator, but alas this just created a futher problem
The installer threw up the message "This setup will perform an upgrade of" ". Obviously got rid of something I shouldnt have :(( So a system restore, fixed that issue but I still cant install FSX.
So my question :) Anyone know of a tool that will remove the traces of a badly removed FSX?

A quick google threw up this thread over at avsim: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=65997

It contains detailed instructions in the last post obtained from M$ support. Don't know if it actually works though :hide:

Have you tried Crap cleaner..........I think it's called C cleaner now

The main cleaner is useful, also system tools cleans up unused and redundant shortcut links and left over registry bits from unintstalls *-)
