My last flight Gue-Biggin in the BN2P has been flagged for a possible cheat due to fuel useage
This flight has only been done once and as it happens, it was by me 26.10.2006 Fuel use on that flight was 113kg.. this in FS9 using the old Marcel Khunt model. The flagged flight and all others I've made in the BN2P model of late have been done in FSX using the Alpha/Avia something or other payware model. I couldn't say if this is a lean burner or if the Marcel Khunt model is overly rich.. I just fly the bloody things
The problem was that the client didn't record a fuel state when you landed. As such, it wanted us to take a look at it to make sure that everything else was okay. Any time a required datapoint comes up empty, it marks it to ensure we're not having a problem with the flight report. There's many reasons why it won't record it, but it's taken care of within a few hours normally and you're back on your way.
Okey doh The vast majority of my flights (in excess of 99%) have been done in FS9 and it's only with DG's Rapide and the payware Islander that I've ventured into FSX for 'live' flights. All seemed well as I got the 'ding dong' when I landed and a further 'ding dong' when I hit the parking brake. Checking the possible cause, I went back through the VA's Islander flights 'Guernsey to Biggin' and found only one.. and that by me. Both flights were done clean (no weather) so I wasn't sure if the 30kg discrepancy was enough to 'tip the scales'.. especially as this flight had only been done once before. There are a number of aircraft that display wildly different fuelburns (the payware Lancastrian and freeware Lancastrian spring to mind) so I wasn't sure if actual fuelburn wasn't the issue
EDIT..
Chris.. I came here before going to FSA so the above is without any reference It's worth noting (from my point of view anyway) that FSA doesn't (for the end user) give any inclination as to why something has been flagged, just a 'general' comment such as 'Fuelburn'. 30kg (plus or minus) isn't worth JS in the grand scale of things on many aircraft. Try flying a jet day in, day out under exactly the same circumstances and getting exactly the same fuelburn and it is impossible.. quite literally impossible. This isn't the case with small piston props.. especially tiddlers like the Islander. The variations are much smaller as the burn is a great deal less so 1.. perhaps 2kg difference is about what you'd expect. While 30kg is a spit in the ocean for a jet, it's quite a huge amount for a small piston prop over the same route so this was my concern. Tks for clearing it up anyway
Dave, your fuel burn is neither here nor there in this issue. Please re-read my post again. I cannot be any clearer as to why your flight was flagged and then cleared.
I already did mate but didn't repost. 30kg in a like-for-like flight IS a lot of fuel but it had nothing to do with the 'flag' in this instance. As you'd said, the client missed the T/D fuel (which I'd not noticed as I never look at T/D fuel.. block being the important one for me) hence it had nothing to compare it to even though what it said I'd burned was correct (I checked in sim) Had I noted the 'Touchdown fuel n.a.'.. I'd not have looked further
I think the comparison is based off of average fuel burn versus distance versus how much the plane can hold. It's a pretty big variance required before we flag it though, something like a 20% or 30% variance from where it "should" be.
Rgr that As it is.. the payware Islander did the flight using 29% less fuel than the freeware model (or so my daughter has just worked out for me!) which is not a sum to be sniffed at. Whether the two models are that far apart in real terms is open to debate though as the payware Islander is much easier to fly correctly. I got to the stage with the freeware model that I only flew it to keep my rating active so A to B in the quickest and most expeditious fashion was the order of the day where as I actually enjoy flying the payware model (and anyone who's flown both will know where I'm coming from)
Consider it sorted and feel free to delete my post over at FSA as in the end, it was irrelevant
